Music
Classifying myself is sort of a hard task. My musical influences as a child were wide
and varied and contained both pop and classical music. I am of the mindset that
melody and lyric are of equal importance. So when I'm writing, if the lyrics are not
meaningful, I can't sing them, and in the same vein, I can't sing a melody that is not
beautiful and memorable. So I am always challenging myself as a writer to surprise not
only myself, but hopefully my listener with a fresh and engaging sound, complimented
by thought-provoking and meaningful lyrics. Sound clips from the new album are
coming soon! Until then, explore my first album below that I released when I was 16.

Liner notes for the planned reissue: In 2002, a then 15 year-old Luke McQuillan ventured
to a local recording studio to record his first collection of original songs, Transitions.
While he had been singing since he could talk and playing piano since the age of four,
he didn't have anything to write about until a major family change occurred when he
was 13. Luke wrote out the hurt and as music healed his wounds he continued to write
about the other things on his mind: civic issues and, of course, love. This album, while
clearly showing a songwriter with work ahead of him, is an achievement none-the-less,
and is presented here (having been out of print for several years) with new packaging.
